The Town Council office door may be closed, but this does not mean the Town Council is. We are all still working behind the door to ensure all our facilities and buildings will be ready once the Welsh Government allows us to open. Our handyman is busy litter picking and emptying bins, as well as watering our hanging baskets, bedding plants and grass cutting.

The office staff are still manning the support line, delivering prescriptions for those shielding and unable to leave their homes, as well as ensuring the day to day running of the Town Council continues.

Councillors are still meeting (remotely) and even held their Annual meeting last night to elect the new Town Mayor for 2020/21.

Congratulations to Councillor Gerwyn Thomas who was elected as Town Mayor and Councillor David Powell elected Deputy Town Mayor.

Councillor Thomas stated, ‘I will do my best to represent the Town and its residents. It is a privilege and honour to be elected as Mayor for the Town my family now call home, having lived here for over 34 years’.

Councillor Powell added ‘Being born and raised in Llantwit Major, it is an honour to be elected Deputy Town Mayor, and I look forward to giving back to a community that has given me so much over the years’.
