On Tuesday 28th May the Llantwit Major Mayor for 2018-19, Councillor Dr. David Ellis, presented cheques to his three chosen charities arising from his fundraising events over the last twelve months.  In total, around £4560 had been raised, Cheques for £1520 each were presented to the Chair of the national charity, Headlines, Mrs. Wendy Edwards, and her family, to representatives of Age Connects and to the Rector of St. Illtud’s Church Llantwit Major, the Reverend Canon Edwin Counsell, and churchwarden, Mrs. Trish Lancaster. Councillor Dr. Ellis explained that the money had been raised through various coffee mornings, raffles, concerts and a strawberry tea. He thanked all those who had helped make every event so successful and all those who had attended the events and given their time and money so generously. The presentation ended with tea, coffee and Welsh cakes and a tour of old Llantwit Major, St. Illtud’s Church and the beach for those who were visitors to the town.
